Multiple methods are used to verify consent.
1) Keyword Opt-in - If a patient messages into the registered SMS numbers and has not previously given documented consent, they will be instructed to text "START" to opt-in to messages with the following message: “You have reached Zerodraft. If you'd like to opt in to receive SMS messages, please reply with ‘START’. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency may vary. You may opt out of receiving messages at any time by replying ‘STOP’ “.
They will then receive the following: "Thank you for opting in to receive customer care messages from Zerodraft. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Reply STOP to cancel. Our privacy policy: (privacy policy website).Our Terms and Conditions: (terms of use website). How can we assist you today?"
2) Form Opt-In: When new patients are filling out their forms, we offer them a “Short Message Service (SMS) and Email Consent Form”. This form has been attached to the campaign application. The form outlines the potential uses for SMS messaging and clarifies the following content. “Please fill out the information below if you want to consent to Zerodraft text and/or email notifications, then return this form in the enclosed pre-paid envelope. You may receive up to 3 messages per week. Message and data rates may apply. You can choose to opt out at any time. For text messages, just respond ‘STOP’ in the text message thread.” If the patient decides to give consent, they may do so by checking a box titled “Yes, I would like to receive email and text messages from Zerodraft and then provide their contact details.
